Read the passage given below and answer the questions that follows:
1. Tea was first grown and used in China. It was first used as medicine, and then became a very popular drink. It is now largely grown in India and Ceylon. The habit of drinking tea has now spread all over the world. It is perhaps the most popular of drinks. People find it very refreshing after hard work. And it is practically harmless. That is the reason why it is very popular. It is taken in many ways. Usually some leaves are put in boiling water, which is then strained and taken with a little sugar and milk. Some boil the leaves in milk with sugar and even spices. Another way is to take it with sugar and lemon juice.
Questions:
(i) Where is tea drunk today?
(ii) Why is it a popular drink? 
(iii) What are some of the ways of taking tea ? 
(iv) Where is tea now largely grown ? 1 
Answers:
(i) Tea is now largely grown in India and Ceylon.
(ii) Tea is very refreshing after hard work.
(iii) Tea is taken in many ways. Some put the leaves into boiling water. Then people take it with a little sugar and milk. Some boils leaves in milk and take the milk with sugar and even spices. Some people take it with sugar and lemon-juice.

2. The horse is a very useful animal. It is found in almost every country. It feeds on grass or gram. It is used for riding long distances. It is used in the cities for carrying luggage by cart. An Arabian horse is world famous. It is used by the military to carry soldiers. It is also used in sports. Horse racing and polo are very popular sports in which horses play a part. दै [2021A] $

3. If you wish to be a writer, you must learn to develop your own point of view. All good writers make us see things in a different light. You may be writing about the same things as your classmate, but your presentation must reflect your personality and individuality. There are so many interesting subjects you can write about in different forms. There is a good market for short stories- ! like humorous stories, domestic stories, adventure stories and mystery stories. Try to make your story interesting.

4. We must do all we can to prevent conflicts and civil war. Most conflicts happen in poor countries, especially which are badly governed or where power and health are not distributed fairly between tribal and religious groups. So the best way to check fighting is to make a political arrangement in which all groups have their representative. The need is to ensure human rights and economic development of all.

5. Historians say, "Ashoka became one of the greatest emperors of the world". He was the king of Magadha. He fought a number of battles and defeated kings of many states. Once he attacked Kalinga. To conquer Kalinga proved to be a difficult task to him. Thousands of innocent people were killed. The blood of innocent people touched Ashoka's heart. He gave up fighting and adopted Buddhism. Later he did much for the spread of Buddhism and welfare of the public.

(iii) What proved to be a difficult task for him ? 
(iv) Why did Ashoka adopt Buddhism ?

6. Sports and games make our bodies strong, prevent us from getting too fat, and keep us healthy. They give us valuable practice in making eyes, brain and muscles work together. In tennis, our eyes see the ball coming, judge its speed and direction, and pass the information on to the brain. The brain then has to decide what. to do, and it sends orders to the muscles of the arms, legs and so on, so that the ball is met and hit back where it ought to go. All this must happen with very great speed, and only those who have had a lot of practice at tennis can carry out this complicated chain of events successfully. For those who work with their brain most of the day, the practice of such skills is especially useful.

7. The water of river Yamuna in Delhi has become lifeless. The river's water quality is most polluted and has received 'E' grade. This is the lowest grade which indicates the severity of pollution in water. Some fifty years ago, the water of the Yamuna was clear and clean. Many water plants such as weed, algae and shrubs grew in the water. These plants were also the main source of food for aquatic creatures. But what we find now are red worms, which live in the most unhygienic and polluted water.
